Police say four-year-old shot near 45th & Locust shot himself



MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The four-year-old child shot near N. 45th and Locust on Wednesday night, March 19th is still undergoing treatment at Children's Hospital. There is no additional update on his condition.

Police are now saying they believe the four-year-old shot himself after discovering the handgun in the home.

A 35-year-old male occupant of the home was arrested on the following charges, according to jail records: felon in possession of a firearm, outstanding warrants, drug paraphernalia and resisting and obstructing police.

The District Attorney's Office is expected to start reviewing the case on Friday.

Police have said this is an active investigation, and they may be seeking charges against others as the investigation develops.

Police previously said the four-year-old died Wednesday evening, March 19th, but an updated release from the department shortly before 11:00 p.m. that night listed the child in grave condition.

Police believe this shooting incident was accidental.
