Police respond to standoff near 95th and Capitol Drive

WAUWATOSA -- FOX6's media partners at Wauwatosa Patch report a domestic disturbance turned into a standoff with police and shut down a portion of West Capitol Drive on Thursday, August 23rd.

Wauwatosa Patch reports a 27-year-old man got into an argument with his mother and teenage brother in their apartment near 95th and Capitol and pulled a knife, threatening his brother.

The mother and brother managed to flee from the apartment, but the man stayed inside with two children, ages two and five.

Police were called, as was a Special Response Team, including fire department medical units, as there was a concern for the safety of the children.

The man spoke with the negotiator on the phone, but would not come out of the apartment. Officials eventually went in and took the man into custody just before 2:00 p.m.

No one was injured.

A police official said the man is likely to face charges.
