Police pursuit in Miami area leads to terrible crash

BROWARD CO., FL (WITI) -- A high-speed police pursuit ends with a terrible collision in Broward County, Florida on Wednesday morning, September 18th.

Officers were chasing the driver of the SUV who was suspected of shooting his girlfriend and her daughter in Miami.

Minutes later, the driver collided with another vehicle on U.S. 27 in Broward. As officers approached the SUV, shots were fired and police had to draw their guns. Police say the suspect apparently shot himself to death after the crash.

The driver of the car that was struck was ejected from the vehicle -- and pronounced dead at the scene.
