Police: Escaped inmate captured in Waukesha, located hiding in building

OREGON, Wisconsin -- An escaped inmate with ties to the Milwaukee and Waukesha areas was arrested Monday, May 8th in Waukesha, police confirmed for FOX6 News.

Waukesha police said 32-year-old Justin Hodgkins walked away from the Oregon State Correctional Center on May 3rd.

Police said it was believed Hodgkins, who is from Waukesha, would be returning to the area in an attempt to visit family.

On Monday, a Waukesha police officer was in the area near Grand and Dodie Drive, checking for Hodgkins when he observed a subject matching Hodgkin’s description outside an apartment and requested additional resources to respond to his location.

Additional officers, along with the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit responded to assist in the search.

After about an hour, members of the community came forward with information that Hodgkins was in fact hiding in a building. Hodgkins was eventually located hiding in the basement and was taken into custody without incident.

32-year-old Hodgkins was incarcerated for robbery, forgery, child abuse, and recklessly endangering safety.
