Police close down street after hearing gunshot inside home

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police closed down a street after hearing a gunshot while serving a search warrant on Thursday morning, April 11th.

It happened just after 7:00 a.m. at a home near 1st and Garfield.

Officials say as officers tried to enter a home, they heard a gunshot -- and then backed off and surrounded the building, while additional officers arrived at the scene.

Police eventually determined the home's resident had taken his own life.
