It`s motorcycle season, drivers keep your eyes open

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- It has been a deadly start of the year for Wisconsin motorcycle drivers. There have been several fatal wrecks throughout the state. Saturday, April 18th, a motorcycle safety group came together to spread a message every motorcyclist needs to hear.

On a sunny afternoon, there's no other way Holly Walz would be spending it then on the open road.

"Every trouble that you have in your mind just lets go and flies away," said Walz.

It's the time of year she waits for...

"When you're riding you can't think of anything else except what you're doing," said Walz.

But with the good, there is bad.

"We all have responsibilities on the road that we share. All we ask is that you look out for us," said ABATE Executive Director, Dave Charlebois.

As riding season gets underway, there have already been several deadly crashes.

"Four of the fatalities were on motorcycles and all of them were right-of-way violations, which is very disheartening," Charlebois.

But this group of ABATE riders is trying to make sure no more happen.

On display, at a fundraiser in Waukesha is a billboard with a message -- and a group working to bring awareness.

"I ride as if I'm invisible," said Walz.

Walz knows the dangers first-hand, her husband was in a minor crash a few years ago. Now, she and everyone at the ABATE Fundraiser are determined to keep the roads safe so that every ride stays carefree.

"Please look, look and then look again because all we want is to go home," said Walz.
