Pewaukee church avoids foreclosure for now; Church pays $11K bill from 2010
PEWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Pewaukee church has avoided foreclosure -- at least for now.
Spring Creek Church has paid its bill from 2010 for $11,000. That's enough to end a foreclosure action -- brought on by Waukesha County.
The church still owes over $35,000 for a storm water usage fee.
The church says it shouldn't have to pay for something it doesn't use.
The church spent $100,000 on its own storm water system.
"Your materials, your public statements have said all along that this is a user-based fee and we respectfully cannot use and do not use your system. We shouldn't be asked to pay for it," Spring Creek Church member Ed Sarskas said.
The church says it hopes to sit down with the city of Pewaukee to try to work something out.
If not, the matter could end up in court.
