Pew Research: WI second WORST in dental care for kids

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Wisconsin ranks second WORST in the nation when it comes to low-income children receiving dental care.

The study comes from Pew Research.

Nationally, researchers looked at two issues: the shortage of dentists and the number of dentists reaching retirement age.

Plus, the percentage of dentists who do not participate in Medicaid.

The Medicaid issue is what impacts Wisconsin most.

Researchers say 71% of Wisconsin kids enrolled in Medicaid did not see a dentist in 2011.

Florida was the only state to rank worse than Wisconsin.
