Pete's Fruit Market planned for Milwaukee's Bronzeville neighborhood, and you can help build it

MILWAUKEE -- Job opportunities will be available in Milwaukee's Bronzeville neighborhood, near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and North Avenue with the planned new Pete's Fruit Market. Alderwoman Milele Coggs has announced a job and information session scheduled for Tuesday, August 30th.

The job and information session will take place from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at 1915 N. Dr. MLK Jr. Drive -- hosted by Pete’s Fruit Market, Vangard Group, JCP Construction, and Athena Communications.

According to a statement from Alderwoman Coggs, representatives will provide important information about carpenter apprentice, carpenter helper, laborer apprentice and other skilled construction trades positions.

Coggs said neighbors made it clear over the past few years that the location should house a grocery store, and those wishes were honored.

"And now we have the opportunity for people in the neighborhood to be a part of building this new Pete’s Fruit Market grocery store,” Coggs said in the statement. “We have come full circle in a positive way for the betterment of Bronzeville and the community. This is a chance to see what trades-related openings might be available at this location, and anyone looking for work or looking to change jobs should make plans to attend."
