Packers ticket scammer targeting city businesses

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (AP) — Marshfield Police say a scammer has been bilking local businesses by saying he can acquire Green Bay Packers tickets, and then failing to deliver the goods.

A News-Herald Media report says police have identified a number of potential victims. They suspect that more victims have yet to come forward.

Officers were alerted to the scam Thursday by a 58-year-old Marshfield man who said he'd paid $6,200 but never received any tickets.

Marshfield Police Lt. Darren Larson says the suspect seems to be targeting city businesses. He says investigators are at the tip of the investigation, and they're trying to identify all victims.

Larson also reminds people to be cautious of business deals that sound too good to be true.
