Packers "bye" week has fans looking elsewhere for entertainment

BROWN DEER (WITI) -- The Green Bay Packers had a "bye" week during Week Four of NFL regular season play, and those of us in southeastern Wisconsin had perfect weather with sunny skies and a nice breeze. That had many folks rushing outdoors to enjoy it!

"Can't beat this weather in September," Will Vandenberg said on Sunday.

Vandenberg enjoyed a beautiful Sunday playing a round of golf at Brown Deer Golf Course.

"I was pretty surprised by (the bye week). I was looking at the schedule and noticed that -- so excited to get out!" Vandenberg said.

For Marquette student and Bears fan Nick Korompilas, the break from the Packers and his roommates meant taking in some golf with his dad, Lou.

"Since all my roommates, couple of them are Packers fans, it's nice that they aren't playing today so I don't have to hear it from them," Nick Korompilas said.

"We're both Bears fans and we're able to avoid the loss by being out on a beautiful day on the golf course," Lou Korompilas said.

It was also a great day for some father and son time for Bob and Jack Honor.

"He's moving away -- getting his first job," Bob Honor said of his son.

The weather and not missing a Packers game were a couple reasons why the day was nearly perfect.

"Not sitting behind a TV, and it's a beautiful day so really enjoy it," Honor said.

Korompilas said he knows to savor these last few rounds of golf before winter.

"It's always tough knowing that once Halloween hits, we probably have about seven more months of bitter weather," Lou Korompilas said.

For many, Sunday plans for the next few months are set!

"Probably watching the Packers. Maybe a round or nine before or after, but definitely watching the game," Will Vandenberg said.

The Packers will be playing every Sunday for the next 13 weeks -- not including the playoffs.
