Overnight Milwaukee apartment fire leaves one person injured

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- An apartment fire in Milwaukee leaves one person injured. It happened around 3 a.m. Saturday, October 4th.

Fire crews were called to a building near 51st and Keefe. Upon arrival they found flames shooting out of the second story windows.

Someone outside the building notified officials there was someone inside.

Crews were able to locate a female who didn't have a pulse and was not breathing. The victim was also suffering from burns.

The female was taken out of the building. Paramedics on scene were able to revive the victim. She was taken to an area hospital. There is no update on her condition at this time.

Fire officials say there were no working smoke detectors inside the building.

Damage to the building has been estimated at $134,700.

The fire is under investigation by the Milwaukee Fire Department, Milwaukee Police Department and State Fire Marshal.
