One person hurt after drum erupts at recycling facility

MENOMONEE FALLS -- One person was hurt when a drum erupted at the Veolia recycling facility near 124th and Brown Deer Road in Menomonee Falls.

Menomonee Falls firefighters were doing a routine inspection at the facility when the drum erupted. The resulting fire was quickly put out with sprinklers and the foam system on site.

The person who was hurt did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

The Menomonee Falls Fire Department Hazardous Materials team and DNR were both called to the scene.

There was no outside damage to the facility.
