One family lost everything in Town of Delafield fire

WAUKESHA CO. (WITI) -- We're learning more about the people whose lives were turned upside down when a huge fire swept through their Town of Delafield home.

Makeup artist Sarah Brucker died in that fire. But Jane Kaske lived in the apartment below. She was at work when the fire started -- and watched as flames and smoke lit up the sky. Her kids were at her side; her dogs in the apartment.

"I asked her to please get the dogs out and she told me, I'm sorry, it's too late, the dogs are gone," said Kaske.

Puppy and Molly died in the fire -- all of Kaske's belongings went up in flames.

Days after the fire, Kaske got a look around. Her home is now unrecognizable; there is charred siding, fire-damaged walls, and windows are blown out.

"Just an empty shell, everything was gone, the kitchen table was completely in ashes, different dressers we had, everything is gone," said Kaske.

Now Kaske is relying on the charity of others. A fund has been set up in her family's name at the Waukesha State Bank.

FOX6 News checked with investigators on Wednesday, August 14th. They say it could be weeks before an official cause of the fire is determined.
