One dead, one hurt after tanker, car collide in Caledonia

CALEDONIA -- The driver of a semi died after a collision and rollover accident in the Village of Caledonia Saturday afternoon, May 26th.

The wreck happened near the intersection of Five Mile Rd. and Nicholson Rd. around 3:15 p.m.

According to a Caledonia Fire Department spokesperson, a PT Cruiser pulled out into the intersection and did not see the tanker coming. The driver of the tanker tried to swerve out of the way before hitting the car.

The driver of the semi has been identified as 45-year-old Jonathan Schweiss of Menomonee Falls.

The driver of the PT Cruiser is 44-year-old Katherine Bennett of Milwaukee. Bennett is recovering from non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say Bennett was cited for failing to yield.
