Officials respond to scene of standoff incident in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN -- The Sheboygan Police Department responded to the scene of a domestic disturbance Monday night, October 22nd near the 1600 block of Heller Ave. in the South Calumet neighborhood.

Authorities say around 6:20 p.m. a woman contacted police and reported that a 40-year-old man, who resides with her, had a gun and was threatening to shoot her and himself.

Officials say the disturbance began with a physical fight between the two. During the fight the woman was able to leave the residence and call police from a neighboring home.

When officers arrived on the scene they surrounded the home and were able to make phone contact with the man. However, after several minutes the man hung up the phone.

After losing contact with the man, a search warrant was issued on the home. Upon entering the home, police were unable to locate the man. Police found a BB gun in the home, which matched the description of the handgun used to the threaten the victim.

Efforts to locate the man is on-going.

The incident remains under investigation by the Sheboygan Police Department.
