Officials investigating crash between dump truck and car in Hartford

HARTFORD (WITI) -- Officials are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Tuesday, April 16th just after noon near the intersection of Highway 60 (E. Sumner Street) and Pike Lake Drive.

Officials at the scene say a dump truck headed westbound on Highway 60 crashed into a car headed eastbound on Highway 60 after the car made a left turn across the lanes of westbound travel at the intersection of Pike Lake Drive.

Officials say the car and dump truck came to rest against a utility pole after shearing off a traffic signal pole.

The driver and sole occupant of the car had to be extricated, due to the vehicle's passenger side being pinned closed by the dump truck, and the driver's side being pinned shut by guide wires from the utility pole.

The car's driver was taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital. The dump truck driver was not injured.
