Officials discover presumed WWII military artillery in Delavan

DELAVAN -- The Delavan police along with the Kenosha Bomb Squad discovered a presumed WWII military artillery round in a shed in the City of Delavan on Sunday, July 29th.

Officials say the device is presumably a WWII anti-aircraft or anti-tank artillery round. Authorities say the device measures approximately 30" in length and 2 1/2" in diameter.

Police say the device did contain the primer cap and fuse. The bomb squad says the item was found to be complete, aside from the powder needed to explode.

The device was removed and disposed of.

At this time it is unknown why the item was located inside the shed. Officials believe it was a souvenir brought back from the war.
