New charges filed against man behind bars, accused of sexual assault after letter sent to jail

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -- New criminal charges were filed Thursday, August 4th against a 42-year-old Sheboygan man accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a child. This, after a new alleged victim came forward -- writing a letter to Jason Robinson that was intercepted by jail staff.

Robinson in March of 2015 was charged with repeated sexual assault of the same child (at least three violations of first degree sexual assault) and causing a child under the age of 13 to view/listen to a sex act. The child was 10 years old at the time.

Robinson is accused of sexually assaulting that child since the child was eight.

In that case, Robinson has a plea hearing scheduled for August 18th.

In the new case, Robinson is charged with sexual assault of a child under the age of 16, and causing a child older than 13 to view/listen to sexual activity. This, for alleged incidents in August of 2005 or 2006.

According to the criminal complaint, in May, Sheboygan police were notified of a letter received at the Sheboygan County Detecntion Center for Robinson, being held at the facility on $50,000 cash bond in connection with the case filed in March of 2015.

That letter read, in part:

"Jason,

I have heard that you have found God, and I'm glad that it has helped you through your time in jail. However...I feel it is very important for you to accept your urges or wants and how unhealthy they are. Almost ten years ago I was a victim of your sickness, and I did not say anything to anyone. For the past year I have felt guilty for not saying anything. I have accepted that when I became a victim to you, I did not say anything because I thought it was the right thing to do at the time. I have accepted that you have a mental illness and it is not my fault for your actions. I wrote this letter to lift myself of a heavy heart, to ease my own mind, and remind you of your repetitive (underlined three times) unhealthy sexual urges. With that said, I forgive you. Goodbye."

The complaint indicates investigators interviewed the person who wrote the letter, who indicated that when she was between the ages of 13 and 15, she served as a babysitter for Robinson, and he sexually assaulted her.

Robinson has a preliminary hearing scheduled in this latest case for August 10th.
