New Berlin police investigate armed robbery at Goodwill

NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- New Berlin police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Goodwill Industries on Moorland Road Wednesday night, April 10th.

Officials say the suspect entered the store around 9:30 p.m. wearing a ski mask.

According to police, the suspect confronted two employees with a semi-automatic handgun, and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect reportedly tied the employees up and locked them in an office before fleeing the scene.

"Scary and heartbreaking at the same time. Once he entered, he had direct demands with both of the young ladies that were working," Director of Stores Skip Dexter said.

"He had a handgun. He made them take him into the office where he made them empty the safe, zip tied their hands and feet and then left," New Berlin Police Captain Mike Glider said.

The suspect is believed to have been communicating with a second suspect via walkie-talkie radio during the armed robbery.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s or 30s, 5'10" to 6'0" tall, medium build, wearing all dark clothing and a dark colored ski mask.

"This robbery didn't rob us. It robbed the community as wekk," Dexter said.

Police are urging anyone with any information related to this case to contact the New Berlin Police Department at 262-782-6640.
