New Berlin Ale House hosts fundraiser for 14-month-old boy who needs a heart transplant

NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- Before he was even born, Ashton Romero's family knew something was wrong. Ultrasounds revealed a problem.

Now 14 months old, Ashton has pulmonary atresia, and he needs a heart transplant to save his life.

On Sunday, November 2nd, friends and family members hosted a blowing fundraiser at the New Berlin Ale House.

All of the money raised will assist with transplant-related expenses -- which are expected to total more than $60,000.

Through it all, Ashton, or "Tender Heart," as they call him, has been a trooper.

"He's always smiling. He's very happy. He can brighten up anybody's day. Just post a video or a picture of him and if you're in a bad mood, it really changes it," Sarina Sepulveda said.

So far, friends and family members have raised $20,000 for the Children's Organ Transplant Association -- which is helping Ashton's family through this process.
