Neighbor rescues elderly man from Oak Creek house fire

OAK CREEK (WITI) -- A house fire in Oak Creek Saturday morning, January 4th could have turned deadly for an elderly man had it not been for the help of his neighbor.

Crews responded to the fire at a home in the 2100 block of E. Forest Hill Ave. just before 7:30 a.m. Before emergency personnel arrived, a neighbor went into the house and helped the 81-year-old homeowner to safety.

The man suffered burns to his hands and face as well as possible smoke inhalation. He was taken to St. Mary's Burn Center for treatment.

The Oak Creek Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire which is still under investigation.
