Multiple crews respond to three-vehicle crash in Town of Vernon

TOWN OF VERNON -- Multiple crews responded to a three-vehicle crash near Big Bend Drive and Guthrie Drive in the Town of Vernon Wednesday, July 11th just before 4:00 p.m.

Officials say their preliminary investigation indicates a 39-year-old Waukesha man was driving a dump truck, heading northbound on Big Bend Drive.

A 21-year-old Big Bend woman was traveling southbound on Big Bend Drive, turning eastbound onto Guthrie Drive when her vehicle was struck by the dump truck.

The woman was ejected from her vehicle, which came to a rest in the grassy shoulder area. Officials say she suffered serious head, facial and leg injuries.

The woman was transported to the hospital via Flight for Life.

The dump truck continued northbound and headed into the southbound lanes.

A third vehicle, traveling southbound on Big Bend Drive north of Guthrie Drive was struck by the dump truck. This vehicle was driven by a 37-year-old Salem woman and occupied by her 11-year-old daughter.

The 37-year-old woman, her 11-year-old daughter and the dump truck driver suffered minor injuries and were not taken to the hospital.

This crash remains under investigation.
