Mukwonago School District refuses to change its nickname

MUKWONAGO (WITI) -- The Mukwonago School District has formally refused to change its American Indian nickname.

The Mukwonago Area School District's sports teams are known as "The Indians."

The state Department of Public Instruction says the nickname and logo promote discrimination.

The district says the DPI order is unconstitutional, and it's working to get the order repealed.
