Missing 13-year-old found in Elkhorn, man in custody
LAKE GENEVA -- The Walworth County Sheriff's Department says a missing 13-year-old Lake Geneva girl was found at a hotel in Elkhorn. The sheriff's department says they have taken a man into custody.
An Amber Alert was issued Monday in the search for the girl, and canceled after she was found. Police say the girl was missing since around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. All investigators had to go on was a missing person's flyer, a few snapshots of the girl, and help from the public.
Officials say the girl was found with 21-year-old Jacob Cambridge from Lincoln, Nebraska. Authorities said Monday the two may be traveling in a white 2006 Honda coupe with Nebraska license plate RUU-652. A vehicle with that license plate was what led sheriff's officials to the girl at the Elkhorn hotel Monday night.
Officials say the girl was in good condition, and didn't appear to be injured. She was reunited with her family Monday night.
The Lake Geneva Police Department was assisted by the Walworth County Sheriff's Department, City of Elkhorn Police Department, the FBI, the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigations and other agencies in the search for the girl.
Police say the girl was last seen Sunday walking in the area of Kendall Lane in the City of Lake Geneva. She was last seen wearing black jeans, a blue Superman T-shirt, a long black winter coat and black boots. She was also wearing glasses.
The girl is described as 5'3" and 98 pounds, with shoulder length brown hair and blue eyes.
