Milwaukee Rescue Mission delivers dinner on Christmas Eve

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee's Rescue Mission offered some Christmas cheer to the poor and less fortunate on Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24th.

The Rescue Mission has been accepting toys, food and wrapping paper for months. Nearly all of it is provided by community donors.

Volunteers put up Christmas decorations all over the Rescue Mission. 

The Rescue Mission offered the less fortunate meals and gifts on Christmas Eve.

"They're getting turkey -- 1,500 pounds of turkey. There's dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes," Chuck Schumacher said.

Schumacher says the Christmas dinner is a reminder of what the season is all about. In that spirit, everyone left with a gift.

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission is Wisconsin’s oldest shelter, founded in 1893.
