Milwaukee NARI hosts a job fair with "full-time, family sustaining wage jobs"

WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- More than a hundred applicants with resumes in hand are looking for a new job, including Kevin Collins.

"I'm enjoying it. There's a lot of good jobs here so far and it seems like everybody is energetic about it. I am," said Collins.

Along with kicking off the Spring Home Improvement Show at State Fair Park, Milwaukee NARI is also hosting a Job Fair.

Nearly 30 companies were at the event interested in meeting potential new employees.

"25 - 50 people could potentially have jobs after today or within the next few weeks," said Milwaukee NARI Foundation President Tom Callen.

Exhibitors wanted to talk to people with experience in home improvement and remodeling, along with those willing to learn about skilled trade opportunities.

"We are promoting the industry as a career more than just a job. These are full-time, family sustaining wage jobs," said Callen.

Along with construction jobs, many companies were also looking to hire for administrative positions.

"We need additional customer service people to answer the phones, we need drivers because we're increasing our delivery routes, we need outside sales people because we're expanding out territory," said Western Building Products Human Resources Manager Anne Literski.

After meeting with several employers, many candidates like Collins are hoping to receive good news.

"Hopefully, I'll find about 2 or 3 jobs I can choose from," said Collins.
