Milwaukee County Board committee rejects proposal that would have relocated Cudahy Sportsmen's Club

CUDAHY -- The Milwaukee County Board's Parks, Energy and Environment Committee on Tuesday, June 16th struck down a proposal to relocate the Cudahy Sportsmen's Club.

The proposal called for moving the Cudahy Sportsmen's Club from its current location in Warnimont Park further south.

The move would have put the sportsmen's club and trap shooting at the club very close to Aurora St. Luke's South Shore Hospital. It's something hospital representatives say would have had a detrimental effect on how they care for patients.

"Even if just one individual is impacted, especially considering the situation with the hospital, I think that this is just an inappropriate site for this activity," Milwaukee County Supervisor Khalif Rainey said.

Even though the measure was struck down, the county supervisor for the district said she is willing to work with the city of Cudahy to find a new location for the sportsmen's club.

The club's lease at its current location is up at the end of the year.
