MillerCoors buying hard cider company, Crispin

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- MillerCoors is acquiring a bigger stake in the hard cider business. The brewing company is buying Crispin Cider Co. of Minneapolis, the country's third-largest cider producer.

The purchase price was not disclosed. Joe Heron founded Crispin in 2008, producing a drier apple cider compared to the sweeter brands that were prevalent in the market. Crispin has grown to $5 million in annual sales. It's available in 18 states.

Crispin will operate as an independent entity of Tenth and Blake, MillerCoors' craft brewing division. Tenth and Blake also includes Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. of Chippewa Falls.
