M&I Bank signs replaced with BMO Harris Bank signs following acquisition

MILWAUKEE -- The blue and white M&I Bank signs around the city of Milwaukee are being replaced by blue, red and white signs of BMO Harris Bank. This, following the BMO Harris Bank's acquisition of M&I in 2011.

The Toronto-based parent company of BMO Harris Bank -- the BMO Financial Group acquired M&I Bank for about $4.1 billion.

The Milwaukee Business Journal reports BMO Harris Bank is looking to grow its market share in the Midwest -- seeking acquisitions in five other Midwest markets, including downtown Chicago, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, St. Louis and Kansas City, Mo.

BMO Harris identified four large banks doing business in Milwaukee as competitors for business-banking customers: U.S. Bank, Chase, Wells Fargo and PNC. Smaller competitors that do business in metro Milwaukee were listed as The PrivateBank, Town Bank parent Wintrust Financial and Associated Bank -- according to the Milwaukee Business Journal.
