MCTS, Miller Lite offer free bus rides on New Year's Eve

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Drinking plays a big role in many New Year's celebrations, but it can also have big consequences.

"Especially here in Wisconsin we've got all of the drunk driving deaths and especially around this time of year the holidays," said Jeffery Love.

That's why Jeffery Love plans to take the bus home after ringing in 2014.

"Why not take the bus? It's cheaper, you don't have to pay for gas, you don't have to pay for the bus, and you get to all of the spots everywhere is right on the bus line," said Love.

Once again this year Miller Lite is teaming up with Milwaukee County Transit System and Waukesha Metro Transit to offer free rides to passengers.

It starts at 8 pm on New Year's Eve and runs until the end of regularly scheduled service, and 13 main routes will be offering free rides until 4 am.

"You just jump on board get on for free and enjoy a night out on the town and let us do the driving," said Milwaukee County Transit System Communications Manager Jennifer Bradley.

The Miller Lite free rides began back in 1987, and has since provided 480,000 people in Milwaukee and Waukesha with safe transportation.

"It's real nice to know that we have a company that supports safety on holidays especially large drinking holidays in Wisconsin," said Love.

A convenient way to ensure a happy New Year.
