Mayor Barrett, Co. Exec. Abele declare 4-14 "Milwaukee Day"

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A day-long celebration was held on Sunday, April 14th for "Milwaukee Day."

Businesses and residents of the 414 area code participated in a series of activities and events designed to highlight what makes Brew City great.

"Milwaukee Day is a celebration of everything we love about Milwaukee. We are putting on events that you can find at MilwaukeeDay.com. We encourage people to celebrate any way they see fit," Milwaukee Day co-founder Timm Gable said.

A New Year's style countdown launched the festivities. Events included a park cleanup, a Milwaukee-made short film festival, free neighborhood tours by Historic Milwaukee, a fashion show and an outdoor music festival.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele both made proclamations to mark Milwaukee Day.

The Milwaukee Day wrap party will be held at Stonefly starting at 8:00 p.m.
