Man who escaped from jail in UP, later spotted in Green Bay escapes for a third time

UPPER MICHIGAN -- After a year on the run, a man who escaped from a jail in Upper Michigan and was later spotted in Green Bay has escaped for the third time.

According to WEAR-TV, 34-year-old John Wesley Saatio escaped from an out of state prison van traveling through Northwest Florida on Saturday night, July 2nd.

Sgt. Rich Aloy, with the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office, told the station that the van is ran by Inmate Services Corporation of West Memphis, Arkansas.

Saatio was able to escape around 11:00 p.m. Saturday after the van stopped at a rest stop on EB I-10 near the Highway 87 exit in Florida.

Saatio was recaptured Monday, July 4th, and on his way back to Michigan.

Saatio escaped from the Houghton County Jail on June 19th, 2015 while he was being returned from a court hearing. He's charged with home invasion, destruction of police property and probation violation.

He is also a registered sex offender.

Saatio is alleged to have broken into a Franklin Township, Michigan home in May 2015.

Saatio was arrested in Costa Rica in June after escaping from an immigration detention center.
