Man injured in Beloit house explosion has died

BELOIT (WITI) -- FOX6's news partners at WMTV in Madison say a man injured in a house explosion in Beloit has died.

Todd Purdy was rescued Sunday night, after a home exploded on Meridith Drive in Beloit.

Purdy's wife, 33-year-old Tara Purdy was initially taken to a hospital in Janesville, but was moved to UW Hospital to be closer to her husband.

Officials believe the house explosion was caused by an uncapped gas line in the basement. The couple was apparently installing a gas stove on Sunday evening.

Fire officials say two pets were inside the home at the time. One died, and another survived.
