Man in Waukesha tactical situation believed to be at large

WAUKESHA -- Waukesha police say a man involved in a standoff situation near Carroll College Tuesday night is believed to be at large. Squads responded to the area of S. East Ave. and Laflin Ave. for a domestic incident. Officials say 52-year-old Anthony Gonzales was inside a home, and refusing to come out.

Gonzales' girlfriend was able to leave the home prior to police showing up around 3 p.m. Tuesday. She told police the man was recently released from prison and may be suicidal.

There are no known weapons involved in this case. Even so, people living in the neighborhood were urged to stay out of the area Tuesday evening. The tactical unit was called to the scene as a precaution. Officials say it was learned around 8:30 Tuesday night that Gonzales had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Police say Gonzales has an active felony warrant through the Department of Corrections. Citizens are urged to call the Waukesha Police Dispatch Center at 262-524-3831 with any information as to his whereabouts, and to use caution, as he has an assaultive history.

Gonzales is five foot nine inches tall, and 210 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
