Man charged for fatal shooting at Family Dollar, robberies
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 26-year-old Jason Wandick of Milwaukee is facing one count of armed robbery, one count of felony murder, one count of resisting an officer and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. This, in connection with two separate armed robberies.
According to the criminal complaint, Wandick allegedly shot and killed William Melendez during an armed robbery of a Family Dollar store on August 6th. Wandick is also accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint while she was walking near 9200 W. Layton Avenue.
According to the complaint, Wandick entered a Family Dollar store around 3:30 p.m and demanded money from the cashier, who was later identified as Melendez. During the robbery, Wandick allegedly shot and killed Melendez before fleeing the scene.
Wandick is also accused in another robbery that occurred two days before Melendez's murder. Police say Wandick approached a woman near 9200 W. Layton Avenue on August 4th and began pistol whipping her in the face until she gave up her purse.
Wandick is the second man charged in connection with both incidents. According to a criminal complaint, 29-year-old Mikal Jones of Milwaukee is also facing charges for his alleged involved.
The state says Jones drove the getaway car during Melendez’s murder. Jones is also accused of driving the getaway car on August 4th when Wandick pistol whipped a woman in the face until she gave up her purse.
