Man arrested for driving wrong way on I-43 in New Berlin

NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- New Berlin police arrested a 21-year-old Milwaukee man early Monday morning, September 2nd for driving the wrong way on I-43.

According to authorities, police stopped the man around 12:32 a.m. The man was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-43 near Moorland Road.

Police say the driver initially did not stop for officers, and continued to travel into on-coming traffic. Officials say after approximately three quarters of mile, the motorist pulled over.

Officials say charges of second-offense operating while intoxicated, prohibited alcohol concentration, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, operating after revocation, fleeing an officer and bail jumping are being referred to the Waukesha County District Attorney's Office.

Police say no collisions or injuries were sustained as a result of the incident.
