Make a Difference Day: UWM students roll up their sleeves to clean up the community

MILWAUKEE -- UW-Milwaukee students are hopping on a chance to give back to their community. Saturday, November 7th students took part in the 25th annual "Make a Difference Day."

Students went out to neighborhoods around the UWM campus and traveled to homes of older adults to help them get ready for the winter weather.

Tasks included: picking up trash, raking leaves and cleaning up yards.

"We wanted to make a difference in the community. We do a lot of philanthropy work in our sorority and when we heard about this, we decided it would be a great opportunity to help clean up the neighborhood around UWM and where we live," said Allie Mucks, Alpha Omicron Pi.

Students at Marquette also participated in the event near their campus.
