Major milestone: 1,000th "transcatheter aortic valve replacement" at Aurora St. Luke's
MILWAUKEE -- A major milestone was celebrated Thursday, December 8th at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, after the 1,000th "transcatheter aortic valve replacement" was completed.
The minimally-invasive surgery allows doctors to replace aortic valves without open heart surgery and get patients home faster -- allowing for a quicker recovery.
The same two physicians have performed all of the procedures and also trained doctors from around the world.
