Last gift: Wife finds beautiful letters after husband loses battle with genetic disorder
LONGVIEW, Texas — A man who died from Marfan Syndrome left a final gift to his family — and it was expressed in more than 30 letters that were found shortly after he died.
According to KLTV, Mitchell Whisenhunt’s letters addressed to his family and the community were found by his wife Ashley shortly after his death. Dozens were written to his 1-year-old daughter — and several are marked for each of her birthdays until she turns 18.
Ashley Whisenhunt said she will let her daughter open the letters on each birthday.
Other letters were made for special moments in life.
“I know he was thinking about us,” Ashley Whisenhunt said.
