"Kids have a right to have fun:" $200K donation to be matched by city to give playgrounds new life

MILWAUKEE -- A $200,000 donation will give three Milwaukee playgrounds new life.

The Greater Milwaukee Foundation made the donation to MKE Plays -- to support the reconstruction of three parks.

This donation is part of the foundation's centennial celebration.

The city of Milwaukee will now match that $200,000 to get the three deteriorating parks and their playgrounds rebuilt.

"I've said repeatedly I think that kids have a right to have fun, and it's our responsibility as adults to make sure that we are creating safe places for them where they can have fun, I'm very thankful to Ellen and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation," Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said.
