Just in time for the holidays, Sprecher releasing Imperial IPA, CitraBomb

GLENDALE (WITI) -- Just in time for the holidays Sprecher Brewing Company is releasing an Imperial IPA, CitraBomb.

The Imperial IPA style was developed and made popular by West Coast (U.S.) brewers. This style is most often characterized by a gold or copper color, citrus hop character, big malt body and lingering bitterness. What makes Sprecher’s CitraBomb a rare treat is the addition of coveted fresh Simcoe and Citra hop cones which really augments the flavor profile.

The 80 barrel batch was created using the recipe for Sprecher IPA2-- a beer known for its balanced malt body and lingering hop finish. Brewmaster Craig Burge then dry hopped this brew with 200 pounds each of fresh Simcoe and Citra hop cones, aging for an additional six weeks.

According to Burge, “Dry hopping with fresh cones adds flavor and aroma. We chose to go big with this beer. The Simcoe and Citra hops imbued it with flavors that don’t make you think of winter: grapefruit, green, fresh resin and nectarine on nose, flavors that are brightly suffused throughout.”

CitraBomb, registers 6.5% abv (alcohol by volume) with 100 BUs (bitterness units).

CitraBomb will only be available in draught with distribution primarily in Wisconsin. Growlers of CitraBomb can be purchased from the Sprecher Gift Shop, 701 W. Glendale Ave.

December 4th thru 6th, Sprecher Brewery’s Beer Rescue team will conduct fresh runs--delivering this product directly from the brewery via ambulance—to the southeastern Wisconsin locations listed below.

In addition to delivering the beer, the Beer Rescue team will stay to pour samples and spread some seasonal cheer.
