Jamaican national sentenced in Milw. for foreign lottery scam
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It was a landmark arrest and sentencing of a key player in a well-known Jamaican lottery scam and it took place in Milwaukee.
Jamaican national "O'Brain Junior Lynch" was sentenced Wednesday morning, December 4th to five years in prison.
He must also pay $185,000 to victims of the scam he helped to coordinate and carry out from overseas.
Lynch pleaded guilty to charges that he tricked people into sending him thousands of dollars to claim fake lottery winnings.
It is believed Lynch is the first Jamaican national to ever be brought to justice in this type of lottery scam.
