At 15th and Clarke flashing lights and crime scene tape are once again part of the landscape.

"I'm very surprised. We had slowed down the violence over here," said Latasha Triplett, neighbor.

Latasha Triplett and other homeowners in this neighborhood meet once a month -- working together to make their neighborhood safe.

"We talk about our neighborhood and what needs to be done to end the drugs and the violence, as far as the clean-up," said Triplett.

Latasha believed their efforts were paying off. Now, she and others on her block are not so sure.

"It's sad, it's sad, it's sad," said Willie Crutchfield, neighbor.

Milwaukee police say the victim is an adult male. They have not released his name. The neighbors FOX6 News spoke to could not identify him either.

The overnight gun violence is a setback -- but not a deterrent. Latasha is standing her ground.

"This is where I come from. I'm not going to run from where I come from. I'm going to stay here and make changes," said Triplett.

This is an ongoing investigation --  and Milwaukee police continue to seek a suspect and a motive.
