BOULDER (WITI) -- Homeowners in Colorado say they never could have imagined the damage caused by flooding this month. So far, seven people are confirmed dead, and another 60 are missing or unaccounted for. Thousands have evacuated from their homes.
On Monday, a group of inspectors will visit Boulder and its residents affected by flooding.
The inspectors will check the exterior of flood-damaged properties, and then label them using three colors -- green meaning safe to occupy, red meaning unsafe, and yellow meaning good for limited use.
Homes bearing a yellow placard could have issues involving gas, electrical or the property's structure.
"I'm concerned about structural issues because we had a wall of water coming down the wall. My main concerns are mold once we move back in," Boulder resident Jesse Evans said.
Evans and his roommate were already visited by a representative from FEMA, but he says any visit for safety provides comfort.
"Any set of eyes we could get would be welcome in my opinion. We try to pretend we know what we're talking about, but we don't have much expertise in home-owning or home-renting," Evans said.
