"If Ronald could talk..." Missing Ronald McDonald statue recovered months later
RIPON (AP) — You might think a guy with shocking red hair, a wide grin and extra-large shoes could hardly go unnoticed.
So when he showed up at a campground in southern Green Lake County this week, campers were suspicious. Some even called sheriff's deputies who arrived and confiscated the fellow in a baggy yellow jumpsuit and red- and white-striped sleeves. So there he stood, in a sheriff's storage locker until his owners could make a positive ID.
The owners couldn't believe their luck. It was their Ronald — as in McDonald. The owners could tell by the weathering on his shoes that it was the Ronald stolen from outside their Ripon McDonald's nine months earlier.
Owner Jack King says if Ronald could talk, he would probably have quite a story to tell about his journey.
