IDENTIFIED: 18-year-old from Milwaukee struck by a train and killed in Pleasant Prairie
PLEASANT PRAIRIE (WITI) -- Pleasant Prairie police have identified the victim killed last Friday, January 2nd after he was struck by a train.
The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Mateo Moutry of Milwaukee.
He was killed when he was struck by a northbound Amtrak train as it traveled on the Canadian Pacific Railroad Tracks just north of the state line between Russell Road and 122nd Street in Pleasant Prairie.
The train was traveling from Chicago to Milwaukee and 184 passengers and crew members were aboard. None of those people were injured.
The Amtrak train was stopped on the tracks at the scene for more than two hours as the Kenosha County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene.
Police say the investigation continues into why Moutry and a companion were on railroad property at the time of the incident -- just after 4:00 p.m.
Police say they believe this incident to be a tragic accident.
