MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are searching for a suspect who shot a man during an attempted armed robbery outside a bar on the city's north side early Wednesday, Aug. 28. The crime happened outside the Hampton House Tavern near 54th and Hampton.

"I heard pow, pow, pow, pow. I rolled over on the floor," said Billie Wright who lives near the tavern.

"You've affected my staff. You've affected my employees," said tavern owner Jeff Kamermayer. "You're not welcome in this neighborhood, and should I or anyone else see you, we will call the police."

Kamermayer told FOX6 News the suspect and victim were inside the bar before the shooting. Police believe the suspect followed the victim to the parking lot where he attempted to rob him, then pulled a gun.

"It bothers me that this could happen to my neighbor. It could happen to someone else down the block, and I don't want that to happen," Kamermayer said.

The man shot is expected to survive. Kamermayer is furious the violence came to his doorstep.

"This is now my home. This is my second home," Kamermayer said.
