"I feel physically sick:" Mother in Amsterdam narrowly missed Malaysia Airlines flight shot down



AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS (WITI) -- A mother in Amsterdam narrowly MISSED Malaysia Airlines Flight MH 7 -- shot down in Ukraine Thursday, July 17th near the Russian border.

She is now overcome with emotion. She talked with reporters while clutching her sleeping baby.

"Like, I am shaken. I don't even know what to do and I feel physically sick. And I was from, like, the Hilton (hotel) in The Hague coming to the airport in the taxi and I was just crying. I am just thinking that I feel like I have been given a second chance and hopefully (the flight she is now booked on) will get there safely and I will see my family again. I need to go," the woman said.

Nearly 300 people on board died in the crash.

U.S. Intelligence officials have confirmed the plane was shot down by a surface-to-air missile.
