Household hazardous waste collection held in Shorewood

SHOREWOOD (WITI) -- A collection held at Shorewood High School on Saturday, July 27th gave residents of Milwaukee County an opportunity to safely dispose of their household hazardous waste.

Items such as oil-based paints, aerosol cans and solvents were among the waste being collected.

"We want to keep this material out of our waterways, out of the trash, out of the landfills," said Todd Guse of Veolia Environmental Services.

Veolia, along with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, organized the free, full service collection. Those dropping off items didn't even have to get out of their vehicles.

"You can bring your materials here, we'll off-load them out of your car for you and it's a free service that MMSD provides," said Guse.
